Parkinson’s is a neurological disorder which disrupts the central nervous system responsible for motor functions. Symptoms include stiffness and slow movement and develop progressively with little or no expression at first. Affecting nearly hundreds of thousands of people in the U.S., Parkinson’s is caused by depleted levels of dopamine due to nerve cell damage; it’s a chronic condition that typically is lifelong with prescription medications and surgery and standard treatments.

Replenished Dopamine Levels with CBD

Scientific studies highlight a particular link connecting our endocannabinoid system (ECS) to low dopamine levels that causes Parkinson’s disease; research implies that CBD activity with both cannabinoid receptors – CB1 and CB2 – in the ECS produces dopamine, an enzyme that regulates a variety of cognitive abilities [12]. Clinical tests have noted significant improvements in Parkinson’s symptoms like motor ability, sleep, tremors and pain after treating with CBD. Trial results from using CBD for Parkinson’s include patients expressing a positive change with overall health and prosperity with just a week of consistent administration [13]. Further evidence shows a decreasing chance of psychotic symptoms and abrasive sleep issues with extended use of CBD [14].
